Welcome to the Cleveland Lakefront Thunderbirds Composite Squadron's website! You can learn more about Civil Air Patrol at our national website; www.gocivilairpatrol.com
We generally meet at Burke Lakefront Airport, 1501 North Marginal Road, Cleveland, OH on Thursday evenings from 19:00 to 21:00 (7-9p.m.) Please check the calendar in case there are any changes. We also have offices at Grays Armory, 1234 Bolivar Road, just east of Progressive Field. Please contact us at the number below if you would like to attend one of our meetings, in most cases the public is welcome to attend.
The Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary arm of the U.S. Air Force (under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security) and is a local volunteer organization made up of both adults and cadets with three main missions:
Girls and boys between the ages of 12-18 may join our cadet program, men or women can join our senior program after passing an FBI background check.
We are proud of the unique duties assigned to us such as:
In the last year we involved guest speakers from the American Red Cross, the National Weather Service/Skywarn, EMS Technicians, Premier Flight Academy, and NASA.
Our squadron meets weekly at Burke Lakefront Airport on Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the executive meeting rooms in the center of the concourse.

Upcoming Events: March 14th, 19:00 to 21:00
Just like you would expect it to mean, our entire meeting will be devoted only to safety. This is a mandatory meeting for all squadron members. But that doesn't mean it can't be fun. Dan McCormick from Champion Fire Equipment will be showing us how fire extinguishers work. The best way to see how they work is to set things on fire and put them out. This will be a hands-on meeting . The uniform of the day will be BDU's since we have visitors let's make sure we look sharp. The meeting will be held at Burke Lakefront Airport 1501 North Marginal For some edutainment: Michael Dickinson: How a fly flies #TED : http://on.ted.com/gTD3 The following weeks meeting, March 21st, will be Aerospace education training. OH-236 and guests,
The topic for the Civil Air Patrol Meeting is Emergency Services. There will be a safety briefing and we will be going over information on setting up your SQTR forms and also 24 hour packs. List of items in the packs attached. Uniform of the day will be BDU's or acceptable corporate alternates. I want to thank everyone who participated in last weeks meeting going through the Plus/Delta worksheets regarding the Cleveland Air Show. Thank you all for your hard work at one of the most successful Air Shows we've had in years, and the planning we spoke about last week will make next years effort even better. As I mentioned at the last meeting, there is a lot going on, I will try to cover as much as I can in this e-mail. I would like to congratulate the 4 cadets who flew this weekend C/TSgt Boazzo, C/AB Graham, C/AB Harris and C/AB Wiggins. 3 of them were on their first flight. Please make sure all of you who flew write a thank you letter to Captain Patrick Kelly and bring it to the squadron meeting with you. I will make sure it gets passed along to him. I also want to thank the other senior officers who helped make this happen, Capt. Summers, 1Lt. Boazzo, and Capt. Dennis Allen of OH-003, our group o-flight coordinator. A combination of bad weather, engine issues with our plane, and maybe just bad luck had left our squadron with no flights over at least the last two years, so it is good to know the streak has ended! (For the guests, the engine had a complete overhaul and is fully operational and safe).

Just to keep you up to date on Burke Lakefront Airport and the city of Cleveland in general. Lean Dog, Inc. is one of the fastest growing companies in technology, and they have bought up most of the office space at the airport, and recently purchased the boat that housed the old Hornblower Restaurant, which is also used for offices for the company. Here is their website, http://leandog.com/what-we-do/agile-coaching/ If anyone wants a little guidance on what they do, check out the website, I can also give you some help as well. If you have any interest in a job in the business of technology, they would be an amazing resource.
